Master Shi Yan Hui
As a child, he was determine to be the best that he could ever be. Learning and practice in the coldest day of winter and hottest day of the summer. He endured
many year of intensive training at the foot of the holy mountain Song Shan, where many of the legendary Shaolin Ancestor had perfected their martial arts. Looking east, the pogoda of Shaolin Ancestors shine his eyes, going west and up, the Damo's statues and Cave reminded him of hard work. Walking toward west, he
sees the Wushu Guan and Ta Guo students trained intensively. Looking forward, the beautiful lakes of Shaolin Temple adorn the landscape surrounded with
mountains, rivers, trees, grass and lot's of wonderful people. The boy spent his childhood in this lovely surrounding and environment where he was taught
buddhism and martial arts.
Master Shi Yan Hui, who's secular name (Xiao Long) was introduced to martial arts at an early age by his father, uncle, and many martial arts master of Fujian, Putian. Xiao Long's family has practiced martial arts for many generation. His grandfather was a Shaolin Monk who defected the Shaolin Temple in the 1928s' burning of the Shaolin Temple. After surviving the fire, His grandfather resigned as a monk, got married, moved to Putian, Fujian, and gave birth to the Wen's Family. Long's father and uncle were trained under the intensive instructions of his grandfather.
Master Xiao Long (AKA Bruce Wen) first started martial arts training of Southern Fist with his father and uncle at the age of three in his hometown South Shaolin Temple located in Fujian, Putian. After several months of training at his hometown, Xiao Long's father fullfilled Long's grand-father's wishes by taking his youngest grand-son to the original Shaolin Temple in Henan, China, where grandpa used to reside and practice before the 1928 burning of the Shaolin Temple. Therefore, Long left his hometown Nan Shaolin Si and traveled North to Henan with his father and uncle, it is at this holy place that this young Dragon spent his valuable childhood in searching, training, and living the life of the Shaolin Disciple.
After the arriving at the Shaolin Temple, Xiao Long trained under the instruction of master Shi Su Gang, Shi De Hui, Shi Yong Cheng, Shi Yong Qian, Shi Heng Jun, Shi Xing Du, and many monks of the Shaolin Village. Through many years of training at Shaolin, Master Xiao Long had reached perfection in his martial arts skills. He has been feature in various Shaolin Martial Arts Performance worldwide, numerous television programs, newspapers, and magazines. It is at the foot of Song Shan, the Holy Temple of Shaolin, Master Wen Xiao Long had develop the deepest relationship in Shaolin with master Shi De Yang, Shi Su Gang, Shi Yong Qian, and many more great masters of the Shaolin Temple. Long was accepted to be part of the Shaolin Temple Family and was given a Shaolin Temple Disciple name Shi Yan Hui. Prior to taking the name Shi Yan Hui, Master Xiao Long had also went by other Shaolin Names that were given to him by several master of the Shaolin Temple, Such as Shi Miao Shan and Shi Xing Long. One of the oldest and most well respect master of Shaolin Temple, Master Shi Su Gang become the god-father and nurtured him in Shaolin.
Shi Yan Hui arrived in America in 1994. His goal here is to spread the authentic teaching of Shaolin to the general public. Master Xiao Long started teaching others Chinese Shaolin Kung Fu in the early 2000 while he was still attending school. He started the Shaolin Temple Kung Fu Team in Alhambra High School in 2000, established the United States Shaolin Martial Arts Team in Pasadena in 2004.
In 2005, master Yan Hui was granted permission from his master of the Shaolin Temple to teach and promote Shaolin Martial Arts overseas.
While attending University, he established the United States Shaolin Martial Arts Academy to spread the unique teaching of Shaolin. After Gradurating from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2008, Master Shi Yan Hui moved down South and opened The California Shaolin Temple on August 9, 2008. The California Shaolin Temple serves as the parent organization of the United States Shaolin Martial Arts Academy, United States Shaolin Martial Arts
Performing Group, and the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Academy, and Shaolin Action Stars.
